Do you have a method?

A few years ago the company I was working for adopted a process called EOS—the Entrepreneurial Operating System.

(We actually hired a consultant to help us implement it at $5,000/day — nice work if you can get it!)

EOS is a basically set of principles and tools for running and scaling a successful business.

One of the core ideas is the importance having a proven process. It’s the tried and tested approach you use to get results for your customers or clients.

(Sometimes it’s called a signature method. Or a success formula.)

It can be simple, or more complicated, but the point is that you follow the same basic steps for every new person or company you work with.

The reason it’s so important is that a proven process builds confidence.

It gives other people confidence you’re not just busking it, and it gives you confidence that you can get results every time.

And guess what?

Creating an online course creation becomes much easier when you have a proven process.

Because when you already know the steps people need to take on the road to success, your course practically plans itself.

But just remember, the course isn’t the process. It’s just one way of taking people through it.

You could also do it with a book, where each chapter explains one step in the overall journey.

Or a mentoring program, with a weekly call where you tell people what to do next.

(It could be even be all of these things. A book that describes the basic method, a course that goes deeper, plus some support that helps people when they get stuck.)

The point is that if you don’t have a process right now, take some time to sketch one out.

Ask yourself: “If I had a process, what would it look like?”

And when it’s ready, try it out with a few people, refining as you go. (Even if you do it for free.)

Because that’s how a process becomes a proven process.

And the benefits of having one of those go far beyond online courses.

See you soon,

Glen
